“Slow down, you move too fast. You got to make the morning last. Just kicking down the cobble stones. Looking for fun and feelin’ groovy.”

FL Superintendents say ‘Pause’ on testing … I do like the sound of that. From Tampa Bay’s GradeBook:

“Florida’s superintendents gathered a few weeks back to discuss how to best focus their efforts during the coming legislative session, for which committees have already started meeting. They pointed most of their attention to the battle over the state’s accountability system, including school grading, testing and standards.”

“We need to pause and revamp the accountability system and regain the trust of the community and the students we serve,” the group states.”

“The group also calls for a repeal of any requirement that districts create end-of-course exams in all subjects, that can be used in teacher evaluations. It suggests that state or national exams and other measures could be used instead. And until a statewide assessment plan can be put in place, it adds, performance pay based on the outcomes needs to wait.”

“The proposal comes up for a full membership vote in December.”
