Response to New York Times: Arne Duncan allowing waivers to NCLB? He is just replacing it with worse. Race to the Top is just more of the status quo, Sir !

Now, dont go calling me an angry army or anything,

but… I have to say, this really bothers me.

.

I just read that Arne Duncan is going to use some waiver power to let states get by NCLB?

.

And, let me get this straight… all the states have to do to get this waiver is agree to Race to the Top requirements?

.

Really?

From the NY Times article:

“The law made its focus the use of standardized test scores in schools, particularly those serving minority students.

.

Yes, NCLB is alot of testing. But Arne’s answer is more testing? Really?

“I can’t overemphasize how loud the outcry is for us to do something right now,” Mr. Duncan told reporters on Friday …”

I say, he heard the Save our Schools March outcry… but he heard it from too far away, apparently!

.

Sir, we dont want Race to the Top either.

RTTT is just replacing one bubble test with another,

and adding corporate charter schools ….

Just Say No to Race to the Top…. Keep Public Schools Public

.

Back to the drawing board, Duncan. You know, if you need ideas, I know alot of teachers. Collaboration is key, they say.
